Boris pays tribute to Simon Milton

Mayor of London Boris Johnson has paid tribute openly-gay Deputy Mayor Simon Milton after he passed away on Monday evening aged 49.

Sir Simon Milton, who was leader of Westminster City Council for eight years and Deputy Mayor, passed away whilst in Hospital on Monday after suffering from a short illness.

Many have released tributes to Simon who was one of the two openly gay deputy mayors in the Conservative administration.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said in a press release: “In Simon Milton London has lost a brilliant public servant and one of the nicest and cleverest men in politics.

We in City Hall have lost a wonderful colleague and friend.”
