A number of celebrity’s have taken to their Twitter accounts to express their happiness after U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker over turned Proposition 8 in California.

From Ellen to Kim Kardashian, A list Hollywood Hills residents are thrilled to hear the latest news that the Prop 8 ballot, which happened in November 2008 and barred gays and lesbians from tying the knot within the state of California.



In the ruling for which took place yesterday Judge Vaughn R described the referendum as discriminatory and therefore violated the US Constitution.

Gay and straight celebrity’s alike took to the world wide web to express to the world how happy they were, including Ellen and partner Portia De Rossi who married in California before Prop 8 began.

Ellen DeGeneres: "Equality won!" and later added her expressed joy on her personal website.

Portia De Rossi: “I am ecstatic that Proposition 8 has been overturned in the state of California," the actress said. "This is an incredibly exciting and historical day and a big step towards equal rights for all."
