Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue have been one of the many thousands to support and congratulate Joe McElderry for his brave decision to come at as gay last week.

The X-Factor winner and Cole protégé came to the realisation of his sexuality and almost instantly addressed the situation to his fans and press, expressing his gratitude for their continued support.

Since the news broke out it has been reported that thousands of people have logged on to the young Geordie singers website and twitter page to send encouraging words of support.

The Mirror reported that celebs and other high profile people have all been ones to congratulate the 19-year-old including X-Factor mentor Cheryl Cole and fellow judges Dannii Minogue and Simon Cowell all congratulating him.

He is also billed to be a big hit over the pond with the paper reporting that the singer has signed up to CAA, the same US agency as David Beckham.

"He has a meeting with a Disney executive next week about something extremely exciting. It is so hard for Brits to crack the States but Americans love his small stature, winning smile and dimples."
