Ahead of the much anticipated third season n of 90210 the question on everyone’s lips is who is going to be the gay character but the actors lips are very much sealed and locked as Matt Lantner refuses to give any hints.

Since the story broke out rumours have been rife about which of the three leading male characters it could be between Navid (Michael Steger), Liam (Matt Lanter) and Teddy. (Trevor Donovan)

After Elton asked all three how they would feel if it was them to take on the storyline:

Trevor Donovan

Do you know if it's your character?

We don't know who it is yet.

There is a 33.3% chance that it's going to be me. And I would be flattered if they did [make it Teddy]. What a great chance to prove your acting chops and dive into a different kind of character. That's why we do this.

What kind of storyline would you like to see if it is your character?

I think that the most important thing for the storyline would be to address the inner turmoil and inner difficulty of a high school senior — especially if it's my character — as a player and a ladies man, the son of an actor who has grown up in a certain spotlight. So addressing that in, not necessarily the shock value of it, but the challenge would be to come self-realization, self-acceptance, to peer-acceptance, to all of that that really goes into a long arc and the process of it.

Michael Steger

What kind of storyline would you like to see?

I'd like to see them handle it with honesty. I'm obviously in a relationship with Adrianna, we got back together. I'd like them to take the storyline slow, handle it organically, make it make sense.

What was your reaction to the news?

It was fascinating because they made it where it could be anyone of us. And you guys are going to be so thrown off. It's going to be a shocker. They're doing a convincing job of it. It's going to be brilliant.

Matt Lanter

On whether coming out makes sense for his character?

I think there is a certain case that can be made for any of the guys. There are reasons it could be Liam and reasons it probably couldn't be.

What kind of storyline would you like to see?

I don't know. Whatever kind of — whomevers storyline it is — it’s not just something [like] we saw last season that was very quick with Adrianna’s character. That was done very quickly, very off the cuff. I guess that’s what I’m talking about when I say ‘real.’

Let’s make it hold some weight and not just some two episode ‘Oh yeah’ and then back to being in love with her previous boyfriend.
