Hunky footballer-come-underwear model Freddie Ljungberg has claimed how he is proud of the rumours surrounding his sexuality, as gay men are known to have amazing style.

Swedish Ljungberg, 33, spoke openly to New York Times Magazine about the rumours that have continued to circulate around the globe, with many believing the football player isn’t a lothario ladies man but is in fact into men.

The former Arsenal player, who has now made the move across the pond to play for America's Seattle Sounders said to the magazine that he takes it as a compliment, adding: "There’s been a gay rumor for a long time, but I don’t mind at all. I am proud of that."

After taking on the role as Calvin Klein’s underwear model, showing off his chiseled footballers body, Freddie soon became a pin up for many gay men. Speaking to Out Magazine, he reportedly stated he was honored to be given the role as the face of CK underwear, saying: "Mostly, I was honored to be asked by Calvin Klein. I was worried about how being on a billboard in Times Square for several months would affect my image. But the impact has been overwhelmingly positive.

"The most unusual response is probably that people are always asking me to sign their underwear for them."
