Doctor Who Matt to take on gay role

The latest generation of Doctor Who, Matt Smith, is to take on a the role of a gay writer in a new BBC2 drama.

The young actor is to take on the role of Christopher Isherwood, who wrote the novel, which inspired the creation of Tom Ford’s directorial debut, A Single Man.

Matt, 27, will take on the lead role in the new drama ‘Christopher And His Kind’ which portrays his story of growing up in Berlin in the 1930’s as a gay play writer.

An insider reportedly told The Sun about Matt’s new and different adventure "This is a world away from what Matt's fans will expect.

He's really excited and can't wait to get stuck in."
