Boy George has stood by his friend Sir Elton John after he angered many Christians when he branded Jesus as an intelligent gay man.
In an interview last month, the Your Song singer said: "I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems.”
Speaking to The Sun, Boy George, has stood up for his friend following the controversial comments made by Elton which sparked worldwide outrage. He said to the tabloid newspaper "I think he was trying to say that Jesus was compassionate.
"I think that's true - the whole message of Christianity is about compassion.

I think that's the point he was trying to make.
"But I don't want to put words into his mouth - we're good friends now so I want to stay on his good side!"
