A Facebook campaign was launched this week in an attempt to get The Weather Girl's classic 80s track "It's Raining Men" to the top of the UK charts.
In response to UKIP's councillor David Silvester's comment made last week, in which he stated that the freak weather we have been having is due to the legalisation of same-sex marriage, the Facebook page has over 13,000 supporters - and is on the rise.
Quoting being gay as a "spiritual disease", Mr Silvester went on to say that the country has been "beset by storms" since the bill for same-sex marriage was passed, forgetting that global warming was the latest reasoning behind the strange weather patterns.
On the Facebook page, it reads: "Let's get 'It's Raining Men' to Number 1 to show the power and community of gay people pulling together is stronger than his idiotic views of us, as well as also celebrating the new laws being passed on equal marriage in the UK very soon."
You can show your support by joining the group and downloading the song from Monday 27th January, as it will then have the chance to reach number 1 in time before the laws change.
Or go straignt to Itunes and download the track!
It must the the 1982 version of It's Raining Men from the Weather Girls as this is the only version of the hit song that can move in the charts.
