A Coronation Street couple are reportedly set to make their partnership official after several years together.
Roy and Hayley Cropper will tie the knot later this year in what is thought to be soapland's first transsexual wedding, the Sun reports.
The pair has their relationship blessed in 1999 but UK laws meant that transsexual Hayley, played by Julie Hesmondhalgh, couldn't marry in her own gender.
As the law was changed in 2004, the couple will get hitched officially later this year.
However, they will reportedly hit a hurdle when Roy (David Neilson) insists on a budget register office wedding, clashing with Hayley's plans for a plush do.
An insider told the Sun: "Thankfully, Roy relents after Hayley puts the pressure on and it's a day for all the street's residents to celebrate."
The marriage is expected to form part of the soap's 50th anniversary celebrations this year.
