Name: Darren Waite
Position: Director of Entertainments
Years at Pride London: Two

What does your role entail and how long have you been doing it for?

I've been with Pride London now for two years, My role is to book all the acts on the main stage in Trafalgar Square and oversee the other stages that are based around the West End and Soho.

On the dayI need to be in lots of places at once, Just a shame im not made of Lego (easier to pull apart and place somewere else!)

Prior to this appointment, what other experience do you have within Pride London?

I used to be involved in media partnerships with publications I worked on and apart from that I just mosied on down and attended the parade and danced until late in Trafalgar Square each year with Rob (my better half).

What has been your Pride highlight?

There have been two really and they kind of reminded me of adverts! Last year my Stage Manager called me over the radio to come up to stage left and have a look out at the crowd, When I did to my amazement, Paleday and the Pink Singers were on stage singing the YMCA and a packed to "FULL" capacity Trafalgar Square were all doing the YMCA!

Eat your heart out T- mobile!

The second I think has to be 2007, when it absolutely Pee'd it down with rain and yet there was still thousands of peeps in T square, It was a mass of coloured umberellas like a Benneton Advert!

Which member of the Pride London board do you email the most?

None of them I use the phone. (internal joke)

Can you share with us one funny story or a secret about one of your fellow Pride Collegues?

If I did it wouldnt be a secret anymore would it?

On the day of Pride London where will we be able to find you?

Back stage franticly trying to make sense of all the people and lists and badges and passes and making sure that our acts are ready and able to get to the stage for their performance in good time,

If you could have anyone dead or alive heading up the Main stage who would it be?

Oh it would have to be George Michael and Aretha Franklin! Actually theres an idea, We should have a Duet themed year, thats one for the cork board.
