Tweeting before the law being passed on Friday the star tweeted: "I'd sure love to get married. Please, NY Senate, vote in favor of marriage equality today.
My family would really appreciate it."
Following the passing of the bill he then took to the social network to describe his joy over the decision: "David and I did propose to each other, but over five years ago! We've been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date."
The pair recently fathered twins Gideon Scott and Harper Grace via surrogate last October.
