Illusionist Derren Brown may be able trick other peoples minds but has no such like with his own and has revealed that he attended fringe evangelical Christian group in the a bid to cure himself of is homosexuality.

The trickster opened up about his sexuality in 2008 but before coming to terms with being gay he has revealed he joined the group.

Following his turbulent past with such movements the TV star has now filmed a documentary in a bid to expose the ‘scam’ scheme.

Opening up about his past he told The Sun: "I did go through an area of the church that was trying to 'cure' gay people.



"It was rather misjudged. I was aware of that and kind of flirted a bit with that.

"Friends of mine were in it so I was kind of aware of it. I just felt it was misguided."

The documentary, entitled In Derren Brown: Miracles For Sale, also looks into other groups that claim faith can heal physical conditions, a practice he brands as highly dangerous.

Derren Brown: Miracles For Sale premieres on Channel 4 on April 25.
