Pop singer George Michael has been jailed for eight weeks on Tuesday after he admitted driving under the influence of cannabis when he crashed his car into a shop.

Earlier this year the "Careless Whisper" singer was arrested for smashing his Range Rover into a shop in North London whilst under the influence of drugs on Sunday, July 4.

Michael, 47, pleaded guilty to the offence that happened in the early hours after the capital had celebrated a day of gay pride.

District Judge John Perkins sentenced the Wham!

Singer to eight weeks in prison 8, a driving ban for five years and a fine of £1,250.

When sentencing Judge Perkins reportedly said: ''Your record is of a concern. It does not appear that you took proper steps to deal with what is clearly an addiction to cannabis. That's a mistake which puts you and, on this occasion, the public at risk.''
