Kenya police have released five men who were arrested after they were caught planning a gay wedding in Mombasa.
The police released the men on the grounds that they wasn’t enough sufficient evidence to prosecute them. Homosexuality is currently illegal within Kenya.
The men were arrested last Friday after officials had been tipped that a gay wedding was to happen in a hotel in Mtwapa outside of Mombasa.
Two of the men had been found with wedding rings.
Kenya gay rights activists have recently protested in an attempt to gain more rights for homosexuals within the Nation.
A BBC Correspondent, Odhiambo Joseph, reportedly said that gay couples aren’t allowed to marry, as homosexuality is illegal, but couples sometimes make a public declaration to their friends and family. They do this despite it still being dangerous to be openly gay in Kenya though
