A lesbian couple in Muzaffarnagar, India, who had decided to enter into wedlock, have sought police protection after their parents opposed their relationship.

The girls, aged 18 and 21 had eloped 15 days ago and returned yesterday from Shimla, police said.

However, their parents objected to their relationship following which they approached the police, they said.
