PC Mark Carter, 27, has been charged with a number of sex offences that were believed to have taken place on December 19t last year in a Leeds city centre hotel.
The young gay PC has been bailed and also suspended from work and will head back to Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 22nd June.
An officer for the local West Yorkshire Police, he is said to have backing from his colleagues.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said about the situation in a statement: "A 27-year-old man has been charged with a number of sexual offences. He was arrested following a police investigation at the Etap Hotel in Leeds on December 19 2009.
"The man has been bailed and will appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on June 22."
PC Carter beat over 25 other contestants to be crowned Mr. Gay UK back in 2006. Where he was awarded over £5,000 worth of prizes.
He heads back to court on Tuesday.
