Phillippa Stroud failed Tory MP come accused homophobe, has now become a top Government advisor.

The Conservative candidate lost out on her seat to represent, Sutton and Cheam in South London, despite odds on being favourite to win her local election by 3%, however since then she has been awarded a top advisory position.

New Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan has reportedly asked Stroud to be one of his closest Whitehall advisers.

Stroud, who was the founder of the King’s Arms Project, a church and night shelter, was in trouble after three people claimed she tried to rid them of their sexuality and said the aim of the church was “to get a person to a position where they don’t have these sinful thoughts and emotions”.

She later fought back and said in a statement regarding the story printed in The Observer, she said: “The idea that I am prejudiced against gay people is both false and insulting,”

"I make no apology for being a committed Christian...However it is categorically untrue that I believe homosexuality to be an illness, and I am deeply offended that the Observer has suggested otherwise."
