A 17 year-old man has been arrested following an absuive message sent to Tom Daly's Twitter account.

After Tom and Peter's result in the Men's Synchronised 10 metre platform diving event, where they placed 4th, the teenager from Weymouth was arrested by Dorset police, who had been contacted by a concerned member of public.

The tweet, saying Tom had let down his deceased father, was met with fierce criticism from his fans, who also praised Tom saying: "You did your dad proud! Never give up."

Duncan Goodhew called the abuse "appalling" but Tom has taken it in his stride, tweeting his fans: "After giving it my all... You get idiots sending me this..."

It may have been a disappointing couple of days for the 18 year-old Olympiad, but with the spirit of his Dad living on, all eyes will once again fall on him in the coming days when he goes for gold in his solo diving event.
