Christian Clarke and Syed Masood are set to tie the knot, according to insiders at EastEnders.
In an emotional scene, Christian, played by John Partridge, will be seen getting down on one knee to propose to lover Syed (Marc Elliott). Their wedding will be the first gay nuptials in Albert Square.
An EastEnders source told the Daily Mirror it would be the soap's "big event of the summer", before adding: "Christian and Syed have had a colourful and controversial relationship in Albert Square from day one.
Syed felt torn between his Muslim faith and how he felt in his heart.
"He went ahead with his marriage to Amira despite telling his mum about his feelings for Christian - and those feelings have not gone away."
The proposal scene was shot last week, and rumour has it that it won't be long before the happy couple become parents via a surrogate mum - something Christian has already discussed with best pal Roxy.
